Gary Payton
Chicago’s Derrick Rose will need to channel a few vintage MJ performances, if the Bulls hope to survive.
Seattle’s OKC’s Russell Westbrook could have used some of Gary Payton’s game for the Sonics Thunder to have stayed alive.

40 days left until the 2010-11 NBA season tips off.
Brought to you by Shawn Kemp and his high flying circus act. Now you know I can’t post about The Reign Man and not include a highlight reel of his dunks:
Hey, Chris Gatling, how are you gonna high five a dude after he just did that to you? (1:15 mark)
PRESENTING: OFFICIAL NBA-OFFSEASON MERCH!
For all the hoops nerds out there, we have decided to launch an official storefront (powered by Spreadshirt) featuring our original designs.
Our first tee is an homage to a fallen NBA franchise (and also one of my favorite teams growing up), as well as one of the sport’s all-time classic logos. This one’s for you: bitter Sonics fan. Now you can support OKC (which after their playoff performance and with Durant being the future of the NBA, how can you not?) while still holdin it down for Detlef, Gary, and Shawn. Even comes in the classic green/yellow for all you Sonicsgaters.
Special shoutout to twoeightnine for the inspiration.

NBA Kicks Hall of Fame
Shoe: Reebok Kamikaze II
Player: Shawn Kemp
Year(s): 1995-1996
In the 1995-1996 season, the Seattle SuperSonics changed their get-up from the green/gold Helvetica uni’s to the forest green and brick Space Needle threads. With the new look, and new kicks, Shawn Kemp (along with Detlef Schrempf, Hersey Hawkins, Sam Perkins, and Gary Payton) led the Sonics to their first NBA Finals since 1979. MJ and the Bulls would become the victors (obvs) but Shawn Kemp and his Kamikaze’s definitely had something to say.
Ironically though, Shawn’s best season numbers-wise was two years later when he was overweight battling alcohol and coke addiction with the Cavs. Guess it’s not the shoes then huh?

(EDIT: Who let Posdnous and Jimmy Walker in the picture?)
Sorry for the Sonics overload, but this is a mandatory reblog.
