ESPN’s Chris Broussard and his “sources” are reporting that five teams will pursue Kenyon Martin afterhis team’s Chinese Basketball Association season. The CBA has a rule that prevents a player from signing with a different league until the completion of the season (regular and playoff). In the article, Broussard believes that Martin wouldn’t be able to sign with a team until mid February.
Teams in the hunt for Martin’s services are:
- Miami Heat
- San Antonio Spurs
- Los Angeles Clippers
- Atlanta Hawks
- New York Knicks
While Martin’s career may be in the decline, the Clippers could desperately use him off the bench to fill in for Blake Griffin or DeAndre Jordan. That same logic could be applied to the four other teams in the hunt for Martin.
As their respective CBA seasons comes to an end, Aaron Brooks, Wilson Chandler, and, J.R. Smith should be able to rejoin the NBA again.
