The Knicks have one, and I’m not just talking talent. The Knicks don’t have a roster that matches their coaches sytem, and vice versa.
A Mike D’antoni offense has to have shooters. In Phoenix he had a revolving door of them who found success finding their spots and waiting for kick out passes from Steve Nash and A’mare Stoudemire.
The Knicks have Stoudemire now, but he’s surrounded by guys who can’t shoot. Even the guys who can shoot can’t shoot. From three, Danilo Gallinari is 0-for the number of molecules in the atmosphere. Wilson Chandler comes and goes like he’s one of Don Draper’s secretaries.
The Knicks roster is built for a 24 second shot clock violation, not seven seconds or less. Landry Fields would be beautiful in a Princeton offense. Too bad he’s busy chasing missed 3’s. Ray Felton is playing pick and pop basketball with a pick and roll mindset. And players like Ronny Turiaf, Toney Douglas, and Anthony Randolph all have talent with upside, but it’s talent made for the defensive end. Not one of D’Antoni’s strong suits.
Take it from Nancy Meyers, somethings gotta give. Either D’antoni starts coaching to the talent or Donnie Walsh finds different talent to have had him coaching to under now, sentence. Grammar.
Or Dolan fires everybody, trades for Gilbert Arenas and Baron Davis, then makes Isiah Thomas a player coach.
I know I know, that’s absurd. Three point guards? What is this the T-Wolves?
