Interesting Stats from '11-'12 (via reddit)

Here are some highlights.

The Lakers had more alley oops than the Clippers by a margin of 15.
Serge Ibaka blocked more shots (241) than Andrew Bynum (116) and Dwight Howard (116) together. The second on the list is DeAndre Jordan, with 134 blocks.
LeBron James dished out more assists than Russel Westbrook, grabbed more rebounds than JaVale McGee, blocked more shots than Chris Bosh, finished fourth in the league in steals, 1st in +/-, 1st in efficiency and 1st in PER.
James Harden’s beard increased in length by just over a foot throughout the season (estimation).

— Longtime Chicago Bulls beat writer Sam Smith uses the Derrick Rose game winner from last night to talk about “hero shots.” The accepted philosophy that your best player should always take the last shot has been called into question by the new math. Smith who fits the part of a jockey agent on HBO’s Luck has a less stats-centric take on the matter.

As the rest of the NBAOffseason staff can attest, I’m usually not great at thinking up new features for the site. For example my short-lived slow motion video segment “Illegal Defense Free-Throw of the Day.”
