In what could be a metaphor for his team’s entire season, Paul George had his All-Star ring stolen from his home during Indiana’s Game 5 loss to the Hawks. At the break, the Pacers were riding high with a 40-12 record and two All-Stars, with many people claiming they could have had as many as four. Now they’ve completely fallen apart, poised to lose to an 8 seed that didn’t reach 40 wins all season, and at this point, no Pacer would even make the D-League All-star squad.
The robbers didn’t even break in. George’s parents didn’t lock the door when they left, which is the home security version of Roy Hibbert’s defense during this series. Police haven’t released details, but preliminary suspects include Austin Croshere, Jean-Ralphio Saperstein, and Larry Bird.
