The NBA Store is selling Dwight Howard New Jersey Nets t-shirts. What do they know that we don’t?
Adrian Wojnarowski on the Dwight Howard situation. You should read the article, but the Cliff Notes version of it. Magic owners believe they can keep Howard, long term as long as they acquire talented pieces. Magic GM Otis Smith and coach Stan Van Gundy know that Howard is leaving and would want the team to make a deal to put an end to this long and drawn out process. Howard will sign with the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets at the start of summer free agency.
So, ideally, the Magic should trade Howard to whatever team offers the best deal in return and it seems like the Nets don’t have a lot to offer in a trade and Howard could make more money if he just signed as a free agent.
The Magic’s monumental implosion Thursday night in a contest in which they once held a 27-point lead, was, to say the least, responsible for inducing millions of facepalms across the land and all manner of fans’ skewering analysis. The scoreboard going into the half was 58-37, in favor of Orlando. But just how did the Magic end up in the hands of such an ugly fate, at the end of only 48 minutes? (I mean, it didn’t even go into O.T.!) NBA Playbook provides some video post-mortem.

Let’s talk free throws for a minute.
Last night Dwight Howard set the NBA record for free throw attempts in a game (39), but hitting only 21 of them didn’t really bring him close to breaking the record for free throws made in a made (Chamberlain, 28).
Meanwhile in Milwaukee, the Pistons and Bucks set another free throw record, combining to hit all 41 out of 41 free throws on the night. Greg Monroe, a career 77% charity striper, went 8 for 8, also putting up 32 points and 16 rebounds.

It’s going to be a short season after an even shorter off-season. We had limited time to track player movement, team development and bring you in depth team analysis, like we did last year. So the bros and bro-ettes at NBAO decided we’ll follow in the footsteps of the NBA and provide you with abbreviated team previews in the best way possible, haikus.
Our third installment of NBA Haikus is dedicated to the Eastern Conference’s Southeast Division. This division has a ton of star power and always gets 3 teams into the playoffs despite not having a single team play in one of the top 5 television market.

Just a reminder about Dwight Howard:
Everyone’s been clamoring about Chris Paul lately that the media has sort-of stopped talking about the 2nd best player in the NBA, Dwight Howard.
I don’t think they’ve forgotten about him as much as they all know exactly where Dwight’s going to end up.
Sorry, Orlando, the only blue Dwight wants to wear is Forum Blue.
Highlights from Dwight Howard’s All-Star Game
This was pretty fun to watch if only for Courtney Lee, Brandon Bass, and Matt Barnes actually playing like the NBA was back. It also makes me sad that Courtney Lee sort of faded into obscurity when he could have been huge if Orlando chose to keep him.
Other notable highlights: Gina Marie singing the national anthem, awesome fan who yelled out “WE LOVE YOU PENNY!” during Gina Marie’s singing of the national anthem, Gortat’s Jumpman dunk, Courtney Lee windmill dunk, Penny in those all white Foamposites, and Gilbert Arenas doing a through-the-legs dunk off the trampoline.
What bummed me out a bit though is that if the current NBA season does get cancelled in its entirety, that means Orlando will lose its stake in holding the All-Star game this year and will have to take the next available slot in 2015. A cancelled season also means Dwight Howard is free from his contract and this charity game could possibly be the last game he’s played in Orlando. And if that were the case, Dwight would have ended his career at least on somewhat of a high note: playing alongside his former teammates and friends in front of the city’s most die-hard fans as if he was creating an Orlando Magic Greatest Hits mixtape for himself to look back on one day.
Or it could just be Dwight hosting a fun game for charity with a bunch of players who are equally bored and ready to play any semblance of basketball in front of an audience since there isn’t very much progress on if or when the next NBA season will start.
Just some thoughts to mull over if you are a Magic fan.

Dwight Howard’s Charity All-Star Game
Good news for Orlando basketball fans! Dwight Howard is hosting a charity basketball game at UCF arena on Sunday, November 13th. The event plans to bring together Orlando Magic players past and present with proceeds going towards “Plant Seeds, Cultivate Them, and Watch them Grow”, which supports youth education, health & activity, character development, and social responsibility around the globe.
Now that’s out of the way, here are the confirmed players for Sunday’s game:
Dwight also invited Shaquille O’Neal, Courtney Lee, and a few others who have not yet confirmed. All in all, this is a pretty dream lineup and would be worth the admission just to see Penny Hardaway and Gilbert Arenas run the floor together. The only way this could get better is if Shaq confirms (potential Shaq and Penny reunion OMG) or if the Fat Shawn Kemp makes a surprise appearance.
