I haven’t seen one episode and I probably won’t ever see one.
— Dirk Nowitzki, re: “freaking Shark Tank,” the show Mark Cuban filmed instead of recruiting Deron Williams to Dallas.
Things have gotten so bad for the Mavericks that Dirk Nowitzki is channeling Kevin McHale’s sweaty armpit victory pose. Your pits are going to have to get a lot hairier and stinkier if you want to impress the basketball gods, Dirk.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag to Dirk Nowitzki, who is turning 34 today. Dirk is still a reigning NBA champion for a few more days, and should have almost finished that $80,000 bottle of champagne by now. He’s definitely out partying somewhere today, and we can only hope he’s still wearing that hat.

An Alternate Opinion on the MVP Race.

Yes, LeBron James is in the midst of a great season and the Heat are doing incredibly well. This shouldn’t shock any one since LeBron James is one of the greatest players in the history of the Association and he plays along with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in a weak conference (If the playoffs were to start today in the Eastern Conference, two teams with below 500 records would make the cut). All of this is expected of LeBron James. There are two things you should always be able to count on: water being wet and LeBron James having a great night. Perhaps, I have a narrow, an extremely narrow perspective on James’ game, but it just felt like what he did with the Cavaliers was more impressive than the Heat. I can’t explain it, but James seems more impressive when he has to lean on the likes of Anderson Varejao and Boobie Gibson in the clutch than Dwyane Wayne and Shane Battier.

When I think of an MVP, I think of a player that not only contributes in terms of stats but also affects the culture of the team. Look at what Tony Parker is doing with the Spurs this season. There’s Chris Paul and his complete overhaul of the Clippers. There’s Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose and Dirk Nowitzk and Lou Williams. If you want to drink the kool aid, you could even throw Jeremy Lin and Ricky Rubio’s names into the MVP race as well.

Look, it’s entirely too early to declare who’s the MVP of this truncated season, but it’s not a one player competition. There’s still a lot of games left.

Dirk Nowitzki being a great human and using his powers for good.

(ED. NOTE: The Mavs can keep losing as long as Dirk keeps making these videos)

Dirk’s still rockin’ his hipster glasses. Maybe “that dude” really needs corrective lenses…

Newly crowned Dallas Mavericks on the team flight home after winning and celebrating in Miami. Dirk sings! J.J. Barea’s feet barely touch the ground when he sits in his seat, and even a Brian Cardinal sighting.
