New Jersey Nets officials celebrated a big day Tuesday in the eight-year history of their effort to move to Brooklyn as the project began “going vertical,” with steel beams, girders and trusses being erected.

The Nets new Brooklyn arena broke ground 5 blocks from my house and 5 months behind schedule. Projecting out to a mid-2012-13 finish date. What does that mean? A half-season in Newark then over to Brooklyn? Not likely.
It means Carmelo would sign an extension to play for one of the league’s worst teams, in Newark, until maybe the 2013-14 season when he will be a 29 years old.
I’m not having it. Still say he goes to the Knicks.

He’s (Knicks president Donnie Walsh) the master,” the executive said. “I’ll put it this way: If there’s any way to get something done that he feels good about, he’ll get it done. He’ll leave no stone unturned.



As the Nets’ deal (for Carmelo Anthony) moved closer to completion Monday, one team sources say is more involved than commonly thought is the Knicks.
