Gilbert Arenas is sad and that makes me sad.
Gilbert used to be the most exciting and electric player in the NBA both on and off the court. He used to have a vibrant personality and was a man of the people. This season, happy Gil is gone and all that is left is a knee-less emo shell of the man formerly known as Agent Zero.
Here are a few quotes from tonights pre-season game via Art Garcia’s twitter account (@ArtGarcia_NBA):
Gil Arenas on what his emotions were playing again: “I lost all feeling a long time ago. Basketball is basketball.”
Gil Arenas on his role w/Wall: “Teach John the ins & the outs of the game & then eventually go on & move on.”
More from Arenas: “The city is John’s. I’m not here to fight anybody. I’m here to play alongside of him. He’s Batman, I’m Robin.”
Arenas on Wall: “When I came in Larry [Hughes] moved aside for me to become a star & I’m moving aside for him to become a star.”
If these aren’t the words of a man lost in a sea of depression, I don’t know what it. Gil, don’t do anything drastic. There are people out there that care and they can help. Call them at 1-800-SUICIDE.
